I dont think i was dreaming.......Night worms

    Right hello all,

    so I fall asleep last night and wake up round 1 am to have a drink of water, as i look at my tank i notice this a bright fluorescent green glow coming from one of my rocks, it seemed to be a little worm. any ideas? am i loosing my mind? it was active between the period of 12-1am.

    google "bioluminescent worm" and see if your pet shows up. :)

    hmmm pretty sure its not an algae by the way it was moving, it could be some sort of star fish SAY, the rock i noticed it on is indeed the same one i have lots of little starfish arms coming out of but i had no idea they had florecent abilities. was pretty cool to be honest and im glad im not going insane.

    oh and let me get this straight the tank was pitch black no night lights, no lights from my room no moon light nada.

    when i googled it, i saw several threads on different forums where individuals said that they saw the same thing in their aquariums. obviously you are not alone. They were saying that some worms use bioluminesence for reproductive purposes and is not a regular occurence for them. So it sounds like you were lucky to be in the right place at the right time.

    Good grief, those LED flashlights are getting tinier every day! Even the worms are using them now!!
