you nailed it. lol little did he know that i've spent like $2,000 on my setup so far and have been doing tons of research. He did seem like a good guy, and expressed how much he loved the hobby. But the only thing that kind of sucks is you have to special order specific fish why i plan to more than likely get my livestock from the other place. I just emailed them to see what they have in stock, and hopefully they will have my black and white maited pair clownfish

If money is tight, I would not buy the mated pair of black clowns as my first fish. A true mated pair of blacks is quite expensive.

mated black clowns would have to be ordered. i have seen a just arrived shipment of ORA black clowns its a mish mash of clowns misbar, regular small and big. if you get 2 that are diff sizes, yes you may have a male and female but not a MATED pair. i believe a true mated pair of black clowns runs around $250

wow! $250 i would be fine with just getting 2 clowns of different sizes to try to get a pair

At least. Would be a steal IMHO. They are usually around $350-$450 whenever I have seen them. And that's lucky if you can find them. I have been on a waiting list for 7 months now for a mated pair of blacks.
Sounds like they are just selling of a random pair to me PC.

i think if i buy them from the other lfs, it would be still cheaper to buy the "mated" pair rather than 2 singles because i would be saving $10 and that $10 could go to the food that i need to get.

I have been to every LFS in the area here and made livestock purchases at most of them and I have never been asked anything about my tank size, current livestock, lighting, or even if I have a saltwater tank. I could see how other peoples suggestions could get annoying when you know what you want, but at least he showed an interest in you and your tank.

They go for about $35-$40 each here US. But an actual MATED pair is a different ballgame than just buying two random clowns ;)
