so i was rethinking. Do you guys think i should go ahead and add 2 Chromis like he said? Like i didn't mind them to much, they seem like they would add movement to the tank. And if i were to add the 2 chromis this weekend should they be ok with my livestock if i choose to keep them after a few weeks? Which my prefered livestock are the Red Velvet Fairy Wrasse and the 2 black and white clowns. What are your opinions

well i would say make a list of fish wanted (and stick to it) and then add them from least to most aggresive. i have been to the fish store many a times and wanted to add a fish or coral and couldnt because of compatability. just take your time and stick to the plan. hope all goes well.

the only worry that i have about adding the clownfish first is that they are the most aggressive out of all my fish, but they are also the hardiest so thats why i would be putting them in first

I don't know about b & white clowns, or much about clowns in general, but here's my personal experience:

My clown is a fin nipper, but he doesn't go after other fish just "because;" it's only when a fish enters his territory. But even then, it's not always...only when he seems to be in a mood. I wouldn't classify him as aggressive, just territorial. But the other fish learn to stay away and there's peace in the tank. My clown was my first fish and he adjusted fine to newbies and they all get along well.

I think it would be fine to add the clowns first because they are the hardiest. But you might lose them, so be prepared to lose some money. However, they might not die and then you will have beautiful b & w clowns to enjoy!

Go with the clowns. Its what you want. And they are really fun and good fish. Do not get something just to get something. You will be kicking yourself for it later.

i think the b and w sound like their more territoral as well. And it's not like my parameters are horribly off. Their pretty close to 0. I just tested ammonia tonight and it's starting to become more of a yellow than a green. And that's same with my nitrite it's becoming more of a green than blue, so it's fairly close of being done. So that's why i think the clowns would survive.

I totally agree. You only have so much space, so it's important to get what you really want. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

    ok couple quick comments...

buy the fish you want and dont just buy one to have one. you will find you will not be happy just putting things in there to have something.

also on another note sometimes in this hobby we pay more to keep the "little guy" going. by that i mean the lfs this thread is over may be a little more but he gives solid advice and for the most part seemed like a straight shooter. so if it were me i would pay the few extra dollars to him to keep him up and running. i personally use a lfs that is a hour and a half from me for all my big stuff and as much of the little as i can just to ensure the best store in the area stays up and running.

and lastly puffer i would research what the phrase mated pair means when it comes to fish. there are few stores that stock mated pairs as the cost of them is high and most people would rather pay $40 a piece for a fish rather that a significnatly higher amount. imo if you go to a local lfs and the sell you a "mated" pair cheap then you have just been gotten.

this as always is just my opinion
