I would not consider myself an expert but rather someone with 3+ years experience and still lots to learn but I finally am going to try the fish I have always wanted. This weekend I am picking up my Moorish Idol. There is a member of the local reef club that has started a small fish and coral store. He went down to the wholesalers this morning to pick up some corals and fish. One of the fish he picked up was a Moorish Idol for me, at a really great price. I am so excited and anxious to get it. I am going to set up my QT tank tomorrow and get everything ready for my new addition.
I know MI's are one of the more difficult fish to keep and have thrive in captivity due to the feeding requirements and such, but I feel as though I am up to the task. I have spent hours reading all I can about them from what foods they eat in the wild to foods that some have had success in feeding them with. My tank parameters are nice and stable. I know there are going to be those that have negetive things to say about trying to keep a MI, but I also figure if I dont try then someone else that has less experience may end up with it. I will post some pics this weekend when I get him. The fellow that picked it up wanted to keep it until the weekend so he can watch it before I get him.
