Yep flooded my bathroom twice. The second time it made it about 5 feet out in the hallway carpet. Now the jugs sit in the tub while I fill them.

Update.... 4500$ for new floor. My local fish guru suggested drilling the can and putting a 3/8 drain line on the upper area of my brute to drain the overflow. Kind of like the overflow in a bathtub. Thought it was a good idea so I am I wanted to share. If the 38 gallon brute get to full it will spill into the overflow line and put go out the garage.

    Still so embarrassed

Unfortunately, no need to be embarrassed - many people seem to have experienced some level of flooding while keeping tanks. Sounds like you have a great solution to the problem so it doesn't happen again! I'm so sorry to hear about the high cost of the flood :(

Ouch. Look at the bright side, what kind of new shiny floor are you gonna go for? :)

I would not worry about being embarrassed. It can happen to anyone. I've came close once or twice with ATO malfunctions and check valves being stuck.

I wanted to post my thoughts,

but then decided against it, and deleted it before I submitted it.

Glad you're getting it all worked out, ....

Thanks for all the support. Tile shopped this weekend. Will send a pix of my new tiled kitchen when it's done.

I just saw another thread referencing my mishap so would like to clarify my full situation as well as say goodbye to all the great folks and good advice I have received over the years. I joined in 2011 but never posted. I recently lost a foot of colon to illness and have been recovering. To help get My mind off the pain and surgery I started to share my hobby and experiences over the last 23 years of fish keeping. I am limited physically so I changed my ro set up to make it where I could fill brute cans within reach of a hose and mag pump to avoid carrying buckets. Not normally doing the water this way, and in no small part my drink and pain meds made me mess up. I agree with keeping costs low and researching before implementing, but I was just sharing my mishap.

Anyway, I did not want to get long winded. Only give my full situation that led to the mishap and again thank most everyone for their support and guidance over the years.

    Peace out.
