I've had my Diamond Goby for 5 months or more... it was a God send, cleaning up my young sand that was going through ugly phases at the time.

He ate well, Formula, Mysis, anything I put in there. I loved that fish. How he got in the kitchen from the tank in the next room is a bit of a mystery.

I imagine he jumped out, flopped around on the floor where the cat found him and went on a ride in the cat's mouth. I noted a couple holes on the side of the fish when I found him and he had some cat hair on him. I doubt the cat scooped him out as there is no where to perch near my tank and I have a very tall stand and she ignores the tank mostly now.

Regardless, I will miss him. I am tempted to replace him with another, but I am on the fence. Gobies jump from time to time. I had one in my 20 long that had a cover on it and he found a way out near the powerhead cord.

This tank is only 10" deep from water surface to sand and with a halide, presents demands for serious groomers. Snails can't seem to keep up with it. Perhaps I will finally track down that tuxedo urchin I wanted. But I doubt it will work as well as the Diamond goby on the sand bed.

Anyway, this is a shame. Had to vent. :p

Sorry to hear about your goby. I recently lost a geriatric fireshrimp and I miss him and grived. The bf is like get a grip, it was a shrimp, nope he was something that greeted me and kept interested with his antics.

    Thanks all.

I can't do that to a Neo Nano. Maybe at night and when I am not home.... I'll give that some thought. Thanks.

Sorry to hear Matt. :( I would skip the tuxedo urchin though. I had one that stuck just about everything to its back, including coral frags and a small maxima clam. Annoying to say the least.

Excuse the ignorance, but why not? Because there's nothing to hold it in place? I've seen it done before by siliconing a couple small clear plastic pieces to the corners of the tank so there's something to hold the frame in place.

Because I have a rimless tank that is gorgeous. I don't want to turn it into a chicken-coop.

@annick - my frags are glued down. I hear ya though.

I feel for ya matt. I have lost 4 diamond gobies in the last year from jumping out. My Firefish jumped out once but luckily i caught him in the act and put him right back in. I couldnt keep spending $40 on diamond gobies everytime they jumped, so I got a Dragon goby instead. They do an OUTSTANDING job filtering the sand and are less prone to jump. I have yet to have one jump in the 6 months i have had them. He also spends more time in the middle of the tank then my diamond goby did. You may want to give it a thought if your looking for a good sand sifter.
