well, I found something in my tank. Actually I good a few of them, whatever they are. I'd like to take a pic, but they hide.

I think they are crabs, but maybe shrimps. The one that I could see a little better looked more like a crab from the body shape. It's red-brown. With at least one big claw (that pretty much all I saw). And it has like feather dusters for arms. So it sits somewhere and all I see are those feathered arms with which this thing is filter feeding.
ah well, and sometimes I see legs of it and they look like spider legs.
    Anybody have an idea?
I know, a picture would be great, and it would be great if that thing would just let me see it completely...

Porcelain crabs perhaps? Sounds to me like they filter feed.

I have the same crabs (3) in my 20 gal coral tank. They are supposed to be reef safe?
So far they have not attacked any of my corals in the last 2 months.

thanks, I looked them up and I'm pretty sure that's, what they are. I'll go look around a little bit since I seem to have so many.

lol, the question now is ... how many are too many?

I just went to the tank with a flashlight to see what I can find. (I'm still trying to find the source of all the klicking, i must have whole families of pistols or mantis' in there). And well, I got a lot of those crabs. And that's an understatement.
maybe 40? they are pretty much everywhere. I've got hundrets of little caves in the rock, and whereever I look, I find one after a while. Only a few (maybe 5) are big, about an inch with claws and legs. The others are all pretty small. And they are all different colored. I guess I'll find out soon if they are really harmless ;)

absolutely sure (that they are not feather dusters). I looked at them closely last night, when the lights were off. I tried pics, but they didn't come out at all. they are jus small crabs, with those feathered arms. Not all of them are nice and shiny though. Some look a little more "rough"
