    i checked my water after a water change...and....
    36 gallon bowfront

    ph 8.4
    ammonia 0
    nitrite 0.25
    nitrate 15-20

    seems that i never can acieve nitrite of zero and nitrates of zero....

    using an emperor 400...i just ordered the octopus 100F protein skimmer...maybe this will help...????

    what can i do? i have added seachem prime...more live rock? more live sand what???????

    The skimmer should make a huge difference. Live rock or refugium on your tank?

    I wish I could help you there. Never used a skimmer but I hear they are great. Im sure someone will happen by soon that knows loads about skimmers.

    tank is still in a cycle. you shouldnt have any nitrites at all. how long has the tank been set up? more live rock will cause the tank to cycle again unless it is CURED rock.

    you dont put anything in the skimmer--it is a filter (foam fractitioner) How old is your tank,sounds like it is pretty new. Maybe still cycling. What is in the tank (fish) How big is the tank???????

    it is little over 3 months old...i have cleaning crew and and 2 skunk shrimp...1 yellow tailed blue damsel...

    i didnt start per say from scratch....i guess...i was given some live rock from another estabilished tank...and some water..and also bought some grunge from GARF...

    the octopus bh-100F has a filter chamber...so put nothing in there?

    i have a 36 gallon bowfront...

    what about carbon???
    filter...
    i have no room to do a sump system...maybe in future will upgrade to a bigger tank...

    our local fish store has a huge tank of live rock...that has beent there for a good while..get some cool stuff with it...like snails and copods...what is the exact definiton of cured live rock...would that be "cured"
