You might want to try and throw some white rice into the bucket in a mesh net or cheese cloth or a spare carbon bag if you have one. The bottom of my IO salt got hard like that once just from the humidity, and the white rice soaked up a good amount of water from it.

It takes a while, but if you're not using it....

Exactly! Use a knee high(pantyhose) Ask your mom for one LOL I kept a rice bag in all of my salts to keep them from hardening. There is nothing wrong with the salt and the elements are all still in there. The salt companies mix that stuff so well that it is evenly disbursed. If it gets hard it doesn't go anywhere....it's still in the bucket....... GOOD SCORE!!! :)

    That was quite a score..
I don't know what the building code is like in Canada but my concern would be what kind of water got into the bucket? If it was a leak then it is possible, depending on the age of the building for many years of bad stuff like asbestos, dirt/dust and mold to have entered the bucket.

My 2 cents. I tend to err on the side of caution.

Yes, except the calcium and alkalinity bind together into calcium carbonate, and won't dissolve completely anymore. They turn into sand.

There's a serious reason why they always say "Add salt to water. Do not add water to salt." on every single container of salt mix.

I would use it after testing it. It's fine. Save your money for corals!

Not a pipe leak it was a shark tank leak. Now the shark is in a 240 as a home till the old tank gets a new sheet of glass. they ware also giving away the old live sand and not reef safe hermits but i did not need any and i already took quite a bit salt i think i took about 50% of what they had.
