I got crabs !!

I placed an order for 20 scarlet reef hermits (always had no trouble with them) BUT they sent me 20 mexican red leg hermits. Are these ok?

I have soft corals and lps and cleaner shrimp w/ fish. I stay away from blue legs mostly because they seem more agressive.

Please let me know, I don't know if I can put them in my tank or not !!

I'm not sure, personally I have white and red and blue hermits and don't have any issues.

How do you know the difference? They should be fine, the most they will do is kill snails for their shells. I also like blue legged hermits too, I've never had a problem with them.

 

I was just freaked! I talked to them last night and they said no backorders. So I was shorted two fish and sent the wrong hermits. I'll rethink ordering from them again !

 

I always buy the red leg hermits, personally I think the scarlet ones are overpriced for what they are and blue leg ones are more aggressive towards other crabs and snails. RED LEG FOR THE WIN!

 

I have the dwarf blue legs and have no issues with them, the only snails they have eaten are ones that died naturally...I also have two electric blues in my 46 gal...if you want an awesome looking big hermit these are the ones, they are very peaceful, just a bit clumsy if you have small frags they can knock down, they are like bulldozers when theres a small rock they can wedge under...but they are funny to watch and are always cleaning stuff off the rocks, they will take coraline off though too so be wary of that...

i ordered from a dealer in Florida with my fish club from a EBAY store and a very similar thing happen to me...they advertised Red Legs online...but they sent me 20 cortez hermits...the price was listed as 15...i was pissed...i talked to my LFS and they said i was nieve for buying 20 of them at that price, because most stores cant even get them that cheap...and the guys in the club told me some people do refer to red legs as cortez's....

well i wasnt having it, i emailed the people about....twice a day, for a week, and they sent me back my money...i ordered other items, and was pleased with the quality, but im not getting set up for that scam....

 

please tell the name, im going to send them another email if its them!!!!
