If you don't have time to change carbon, do a water change and give a **** about the animals in your care you should just throw in the towel.... on both tanks.

I have time to change carbon and as for the animals care alot about them thats probally why im so worried about how to do it right. I just have time to do a complete break down of the tank clean it and set it back up thats why I want to quit.
And when I said the old tank is doomed the only thing living are the snails and hermits last fish passed

For what it's worth, and I'm pretty sure I mentioned this earlier... I don't think you need to break the tank down and do a full clean. I think you need to replace the water. Take out the silicone in the other tank, replace it with the good stuff, and give it another shot. Replace the filter media on your tank (or if it's filter sock material... you can wash it).

You have already established you don't want to do it right so don't act like you really care because its pretty obvious you don't. You have mentioned your done, the tank is doomed, your walking away, throwing in the towel how many times? You didn't ask how to save stuff people are trying to help you save stuff but thats to much work. So really for the animals sake just throw in the towel on both tanks, because when something goes bad your just going to throw in the towel anyway.

BTW a 72g won't get you many predators atleast not long term.

So your just going to let whatever is in the other tank die because you don't want to try to save it?

If there was anything to save I would. The last fish passed while i trying to solve this problem as for the snails and hermit I will keep in a small tank.
Losing the 3 fish in there really did hurt.
In the end I will probably do a true clean.

We all lose fish/corals. At some point you either decide you can't do it either for your own work or for the animals... or that you are willing to learn how to keep better care for your livestock. It's not that you did "bad", you made a mistake, like we all do at some point(s).

+1 crap happens. But if your not willing to look past it and try to do better or make things better for whatever is salvageable... or can't afford the losses its best to just cut your losses now because like a gambling addiction its not going to get any cheaper and its not likely for the average hobbyist to ever recover what they spend on this crazy addiction.

p.s. don't be so willing to throw in the towel it really isn't that bad.
