today i decided to scrub the GHA off my rocks. So of course that means i have to move the rock around, i tried putting it back the same way but that's impossible. Moving all the rocks around always makes my tanks super clowdy, so now that i'm done scrubbing the GHA off the rocks, i'm waitint for the tank to settle down so i can look at the aquascape. I hate how messinging with the rocks stresses the fish, i see the clowns, but can't see my firefish, hopefull he's ok, i did my best with inverts.

I just wish scrubbing the GHA is worth all of this. I'll take pics of the new aquascape when i'm done and when everything is all clear

you are crazy or mabye just a neat freak. thats a lot of work.

oh it will be back. just temporary relief for an eyesore called GHA. do a water change while your at it. get new water into tank and to pull nutrients and particles making the tank cloudy.

lol i just want the GHA gone so i can get coral. And as for the water change, the water that i have in the bucket is from that, i still have to do another 2 gallons more. I'm not really sure how well i got the GHA off but at least it will be better.

And at least this new aquascape is making my firefish actually swim, i can barely see him through the cloudyness

Taking out the rock and disturbing the substrate can exasperate the problem by releasing more trapped nitrates. I think you got the phosphate reactor if I remember correctly. You have to be patient, it will run its' course and once starved, it will die off. If you want to add something extra use Algone.

Your tank shouldn't be that cloudy from just moving the rock around. Next time, prepare a bucket of fresh salt water and heat it up. When you move the rocks, dunk them in the fresh salt water to get all of the detritus off of them. Or another method, although less effective, is to use a turkey baster to blow off all of the rocks when you do a water change and siphon the water out then.

I have changed aquascapes several times and my tank does get some debris in the water, it doesn't cloud up the way it sounds yours does.

yea no phosphate reactor as no place to put one. I'll look into the Algone if it comes back. There really wasn't that much algae but i'lve had it for almost a month now, and just didn't want it to get any worse than it already was so i wanted to give this a try.

ok, thanks for the tips. And i tried using the turkey baster once but then it just made the tank very brown and cloudy. I don't know why this happens, when ever i move a rock around or blow stuff off, the tank looks like mud. This time around the tank doesn't rlook like mud, but more so like sand, i guess from that being moved around a bit. But the bucket that i had the rocks in is still muddy. And it takes a few hours for everything to settle back down

Just thought of something else. I use Marine-Clean by tropical Science. Check into that.

if it gets muddy looking that means there is alot of ditrius, slow down on the feeding or stir it up more often to prevent major build ups like it seems like you are having. Also get 2 very large mex. turbo snails, they kill the GHA mow right through it will be gone in a week, if the nutrients in the tank are kept low. I added a coral frag with a small patch on GHA on it in my 90 gallon and it went directly to the patch and ate within 10 mins of it being in the tank.
