So moving from a house to garage I had to make some changes on how I made water...

side note....has anyone tried using a brine solution for storage(5 gal jug), then mixing it to the right salinity for a water change. Will the pH drop in the brine solution without flow? I know the pH drops when its at the right salinity, in holding tank without flow and ventiation.

you could always test it before adding it, and if it low.. just add a little bit of ph buffer to the 5gal jug.. worst case scenario..

^^^That was the plan, I was just curious if anyone knew off the top of there head.

at my old house I had 50 gal can, problem is I have no room, and stupid cats, thus the brine solution time it water change time.
I have a question for you, do you have the can raised and a valve on the bottom of it? or do you just bucket out what you need?

I would use a powerhead(maxijet) connected to a tube to pump the water into my tank. but my father does have the scenario you described(not a trash can but a water container he bought).
