I would bet the lawyer did not see enough money in your problem so they rushed you out the door. There is really nothing that they are going to do for you in this situation that you cannot do yourself with a little research.

Talk to their risk management department. They will look at risk vs reward, thats their job. Be up front that it is your intention to file small claims paperwork. It is easier for them to pay you than to send a representative to court. They also know if it gets sent it to their corporate lawyers it's going to cost them a lot more than your claim in the first place.

I would also pursue this from the PUC side as well. Any pressure that you can use is a good thing for you.

    Just my 2 bits.

I've had this problem with our power at our company. We lost a freezer full of bone tissue and the power company, because in their wisdom decided to cut the power to our entire building on "accident", did not reimburse us. We decided to sue the crap out of them and won. In your case since it's under 1k, I bet you could file small claims and win.

Yes, they restored it as soon as it was reported but it was their fault they shut it down on purpose. Heck, even a power surge wiping out appliances would be covered usually through the power company, why not this?

Good luck and glad to hear about your LB! That's good news he was probably camping out keeping warm :)

Great about the LB....I'd persue the issue with the power company....don't for get to add in the cost of all your food you lost as well....you have to replace it and that extra bit may be needed to replace what you lost in your tank.

    Good luck.

Well the ipl rep offered a $450 credit for the inconveniance. at about $38 a month that would be almost a years worth of power bills lol. going to press them some more. went and picked up a new leather tonight post a pic when i get a chance.

    Excellent!

All for pushing for more... just want to throw this thought out there - if you can't prove the value of what you lost (did you keep the dead coral?) this might be worth accepting...
