If my lighting is enough i have a 150 watt 14k halide lamp sitting ontop with a 96w power compact fixture right in front of the halide, I was wondering is this enough light to host some corals in the lower portion of the tank? and Mid portion also

well you can for sure keep corals in the top regions of the aquarium. Try and experiment. Place a coral in the lower regions and see how it reacts to its position; and adjust accordingly.

It would really depend on what corals you wanted to keep. I would think low light demanding coral could be kept mid level.

I would agree with Jason. You should be able to keepp low light corals in the bottom of the tank, and high light in the top. But you need to make sure you have a good reflector on that setup. With a poor reflector it will be really low light corals in the bottom of the tank.

What exactly are we talking about tank size here? I am confused. 2ftx2ftx3ft isnt really a cube, and if my math is right, that would be about 90 gallons, not 47?

Possibly. But then why would it be a cube? Maybe he means a hex tank?
But anyways, on a 36" deep tank, I wouldnt use a 150. Maybe a 250, but that would still be on the low side.

what about getting the 250 watt and the 150 watt and use them at the same time?
