So my tank is about 2.5 months old. Red Cyano everywhere in the front. Black Cyano in the back. Will this go away? I use RODI water. Ammonia and Nitrite are 0. Nitrate 15. I have 2 clowns and it is a 20 gallon long. Please help!

Do a water 10g water change, and siphon off as much as uou can, comes off easy. Leave the light off for 2-3 days. Increase the flow in the tank or itll come back. It also grows cus of too much nutients in the water, so for example if your using instant ocean reef crystals and you dont need too, then youll havetoo much nutiernts in the water , which will blow your tank up with cyano. So dont dose, or add anything that ypur not 100% sure absolutly need. Lighten up your feedings too.

Nitrates at 15 will help fuel the cyano growth. Try feeding less and maybe increasing water changes to help lower the nitrate level. Also, cutting the lights off for a few days will help too.

I turned the lights off last night and they are still off. I am using coral pro salt. I have 2 clowns. 1 flower coral colony, small frogspawn, and 2 colonys of zoanthids. Am I good to go? Do you guys think this will go away? Am I doing anything wrong?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Do you have enough flow?

Not uncommon for such a young tank to have a cyano out break however yours does seem pretty bad.

Does it receive any natural sun light?
What type of lighting do you have?

    Move to ------ Algae.

I upped my flow (about 45X my DT/hr), and tried many things.
I siphoned and WC'd, again, and again, etc.

My cyano wasn't terrible, but any bothered me, and looked kinda crappy!

So, I inexpensively built my own DIY Phosguard reactor, from I thread I saw,
You'd only need a very small version, worked for me, mo more Cyano!
I add a small amount of granules to it every 3 months or so.

Here's my thread with some links in it:

    Good luck

    Just wanted to mention

turning the lights off is often not enough to kill cyno off
you need to throw a blanket over the tank and prevent natural light getting in
leave it for 3 or 4 days , then remove and your tank will look brand new

depending on your lighting, you may want to reduce photoperiod for the 1st couple of days after a total blackout of that nature just to re acclimatize the corals

cyano is a bacteria, and with your tank being so new it happens. i think it will disappear when the bacteria levels even out. try some of sea chems stability.
