Hi, my nuvo 30 aio came in today. Im planning on adding 2 more flare nozzles to the back wall and feeding then with a maxi jet 1200. Combined with the stock pump I will have a 50x turnover rate. The problem is all this will be feeding into the overflow, from my understanding this will be way too much flow for the skimmer to handle. Will this set up work for sps or should I spend $230 on an mp10? I really dont want to spend the extra money if I dont need to.

honestly, I wouldn't push that much through my sump/overflow. If it were me and I had the money to do so, I would go with the MP10. I'm a firm believer you don't want to push any more water past your skimmer than it is able to process. I know there will be some nay sayers on this one but it is what it is. My system is 200 gallons total volume and I only have a 1000 gallons per hour going through the sump. I believe even that is a bit much.

I wonder if 2 pumps in the back would be to much and drain the back chambers?

You can't go wrong with the MP10 they are sweet!

yeah, I'm not even sure the overflow could handle that much. You don't have to do an mp10. You could get away with a koralia and not spend near as much.

There is a big difference between turnover and flow. Ideally, if you are running a skimmer in your sump, you don't want more than 5x ish. Head engineer of Vertex has a good video on this somewhere on youtube.

    For flow, rely on powerheads.

And to answer your question, no, that won't be ideal flow for SPS. You want random flow at higher levels. I'd recommend a single MP10 for a 30.
