John that sounds like a terrible situation. I hope you can get it easily fixed.

I think you should fix this tank, then use it as a QT for your new 210+ tank!! ;D

I vote for trying to fix it. It's not like the glass is broken. It seems like a simple enough fix.

Hey just wanted to let you know that silicone WILL NOT bond to already cured silicone. Would hate to see you go through the truoble for nothing. Just make sure you either scrape the bad silcone away and get fresh on the glass or make sure the silicone you put over the top of the old stuff bonds to clean glass....

John is it from the joint where the corners meet or more from up under the top stress rim ? I have often times see the water wick up under the top band and come down on the outside and drip down the outside seam . sometimes they do not seal that rim well and a good dab of silicone will cure that type of leak. Now if you can see the leak in the seam then lower the water to a 1" below and using a straight safety razor scraper blade just using the opposing glass pane as a guide slice out the silicone up to the top on both side and wipe it with freshwater then a rag with Denatured or simple rubbing alcohol to clean it then from where the old silicone is where the drained water level then go from there up but you have to overlap the old corner bead that you also cleaned with the alcohol . Try not to pour any into the tank but do not get any saltwater on the cleaning rag either. the silicone will bond well enough at this height as there is little pressure . But check under the top rim first.. or refill the tank until you can see where its really leaking from.

Never had any problem getting silicone to bond to silicone but KOgle is right, cut out the bad area and reapply to the bare glass, mostly so you don't have a big unsightly glop of silicone up in that corner but also to make sure no water can get under it anywhere.

Thanks guys.......The problem is definitely in the silicone along the seem. I am going to drain a little more water out, start an inch below the bad patch and progress as stated above. Should be an experience. Thanks all, once again for your help.

Well, the most difficult part of the process was smoothing it out. I'll trim it later......but the curing has started. Thursday, I will know. Thanks again y'all.
