Just a update I changed out 20gals of water found my Ca was at 260 and my ALK was at 18. I dont know how they got that far out but my Ammonia is 0ppm now and my Ca is 310 and ALK 16dKH. I had to go to work so i couldnt change any more water but will do another 20gal water change when i get home hopfully that will bring it down to 14dKH.

    sorry about mr rocks :(

shut your uv down if you have one, and turn your skimmer off for a bit let the bacteria go to work.
any time i move things or add things i always add live bacteria to combat the disruption of my water chem, i caused in the tank.

i have had alk that high, don't do more water changes, to many water changes will throw your water chemistry further out of whack. your at zero ammonia , let the alk drop on its own, with normal water changes. if you do decide to go the route of more water changes be sure to add the live bacteria with each one. you are removing live bacteria with each water change. and you need that to fight the die off on those new rocks.

Sorry off topic, where do you get live bacteria from? This is a new concept to me

I also agree with shutting the UV down, and continue adding prime until everthing is down

I had a similar issue recently, and my LFS sold me some Fritzyme. There's lots of stuff on the market that doesn't work, but this DOES. Supposedly, it has the actual correct nitrosomonas and nitrobacter for salt water. Whatever, it works!

Keep the skimmer off at least 4 hours so the bacteria can settle.
