I have a little baby blue tang (it's about the size of a half dollar coin). It gets along with its tank mates well, but I have noticed that it has little bit of a bulge on the underside of its belly. I just want to make sure that it is ok or if it isn't what can I do to fix the problem.

I did have a fake perc die yesterday but I had him out of the tank within a few minutes of him dying. Other fish (molly, another fake perc, 2 blue-green chromis, and a blue damsel) are all doing great and swimming fine. I did a 5 gallon water change (tank is 55 gallons) two days ago and parameters were fine then.

The tang is swimming fine, he ate a little yesterday (I have not fed yet today), and the only tank mate that it interacts at all with is my cleaner shrimp.

    Thanks!

Your tank is too small for an adult blue tang, it's also not recommended to buy tiny ones.
    Pics of the bulge?

I have no clue why the perc died. He was fine one day and dead the next. I have melafix in the tank incase he had some kind of parasite but he didn't have any white spots or mucus that would suggest ich or another parasite.

And here is a pic. Sorry the light in the tank is most weighted on the bluer end of the spectrum for corals.

I am moving to a 135 gallon with 100 gallon sump next week. I am just finishing up work on the stand and plumbing today and tomorrow. I already have water cycling to put in it.

This was my first thought too :)...was he big like that when you got him? How long have you noticed the belly bulge?

Thats not a normal buldge. And water doesn't 'cycle,' rock, sand, and other media develops nitrogen fixing bacteria.

Yes I know water doesn't. I have sand and rock in there too. I probably didn't do my best at communicating that. It's all crushed coral sand and some small live rocks.
