    Hello, I am new at this blogging stuff so bear with me. I need to know what this is. It's the catipiller looking thing in the middle. It is 1/8 th inch in dia. or so and 1" long. It is a shell with a critter living inside. No it is not a feather duster. Any thoughts? IMG_1954.JPG

    That definitely looks like a vermetid snail, does it ever create a web that extends out a few inches or so?

    Seems like a vermetid snail. I consider them pests and remove them.

    I agree, vermetid snail. I have one and it looks just like the guy in your second picture. Look for a string/spider web looking thing coming from him. If you do see one, that's a vermetid for sure.

    vermetid snail, kinda harmless but their fishing threads can be annoying, especially when they get stuck to other corals.
