tonight i had the worst experience of my life and never been this much shaken.

my daughter and i went to bed around 8pm for we have to be early in church tomorrow. couple of minutes ago heard a loud noise downstairs like someone dropped something on the floor, i was half asleep at the time and startled me. immediately came to mind that there might be an intruder in the house so, i grabbed my handgun off the nightstand and slowly walked to my daughters bedroom across the hallway. my daughter sleeps alone and we leave the door open. as i got to her bedroom, immediately checked every corner to see if anybody was there, none. looked at the clock it was 10:30 and impossible that my wife might be home by then for there was no light downstairs. checked my iphone for (i have it with me in case i need to call 911) iphone finder and my wife was still at work. then i hear another bang this time was softer than the first one.
right now i am already scared as i slowly moved to the stairs and slowly moved down silently while trying to listen to any noise so i can pinpiont where in the house it came from.
while downstairs, checked the front door and it was locked, i have the gun chambered and safety off pointed forward. still being careful checking the whole house. NOTHING!!!! :eek:turned all lights and every door locked and no windows busted open so i am puzzled.
went to kitchen to get a glass of water to calm me down and as i was drinking it, i almost choked and dropped the glass of what i saw.
MY AQUARIUM LIGHT FELL OFF THE CEILING!!!!!!!! i was shocked and couldn't move that my whole lighting system fell off the ceiling. the whole mounting bracket to the hanging kit. my 4 AI are swimming in the tank (well barely) but they are still on (night light).
my AI's were half submerged and was surprised that they are still working and not shorted out.
i just finished opening every single one of them and drying the inside with a blow dryer and everything seems working. i'm just glad that they still work for i just added 2 of them last monday or else $1600 off the door.
well, that got me excited tonight and i can't get my self to go to bed again for i am constantly checking the tank if there is any cracks on it. hopefully not for i am not ready to clean a mess by morning.

Wow, you are lucky! I hope they still work. Are all the tankmates ok?

wow, i'd be shaking still at this point! I'd keep them unplugged for a awhile and get them 100% dried out.

post your hanging set up so this doesn't happen to someone else.

    good luck with them

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Overall I am glad it was not something much worse, while still bad and a little freaky, at least things can be repaired. I would have been frozen in fear.

This is a good example of benefits have a good dog.

just checked my Ai and they are working fine. power connectors are all corroded. lol, but they work. i will be attaching them again later in the day and make sure that it stays put this time. lol

last night was really something. me and my neighbors are feeling unsafe lately because of what happened last Friday. we just had the biggest drug bust in history of the city. 780 lbs of crystal meth were seized just because of a stolen ipad where in police tracked it in an apartment complex by way of ipad's gps. amounting to around $35 million. even the DEA and fbi were here.

Wow, sorry to hear what happened! Though it's good that it wasn't what you thought happened, I suppose.

AIs are sort of water proof. lol.
