So up to this point my research has mainly been on cycling, my B&W OC's, and inverts. I really know nothing about corals. Going to start some research but it would be nice to get a quick overview from somebody. Thanks

What kind of corals are you interested in keeping? SPS, LPS, Soft etc.? I'm guessing you want to start with some of the easier corals. Start studying required parameters for reef tanks. Mag, alk, calc. etc............

as they said, it all depends on what you want to do. and the degree of work you want to put into your tank

and lighting, lighting is important to corals, some dont require the extream amounts of lighting others do.

Also look at some easier corals to start with and then work your way up. Some good starters are Xenia, Kenya tree, Mushrooms, Zoathids, Just to name a few.

Good luck hope this helps you out some

it is one of those ones that are extreemly easy to keep and will survive most anything

if you have a local reefing club or somthing i would try asking there about getting some vs the pet store due to the fact a lot of people give it away since it grows so fast

One of the downfalls of this coral. In the right conditions can become a nuisance. Start learning how to frag if you decide to keep it.

In a newer tank Zenia might not do well. In an established tank they do grow like weeds.

I would start with mushrooms, zoas, star pollyps are an excellent starter coral and a small frag can become a really nice coral in about 6 months. Maybe get a colt coral. I would stay away from hard corals for a year or so. Pick your fish carefully because many of the damsels are pretty but cause problems later in your tank.

Make sure your tank is cycled, buy some live rock, at least PC quality lighting, some powerheads and do partial water changes regularly. What size tank are you thinking of using?
