Does or did the chemipure make a difference or help with the problem ? Can you peel it off the rocks like a sheet does it have bubbles in or under it ? If the chemipure did help or if you can peel it and if it has trapped bubbles in it. Then its not algae you are fighting .. Tell us about the tank its size and filtration methods and amount of internal water circulation. And light type and K values of the lights.

Looks like you're feeding too much. How old are your lights? Try running phosphate remover/silicate remover/nitrate remover. What about water changes... how often?

Well if the antibiotic "tetracycline" aka chemiclean helps then its a true cyano problem And the stuff hates oxygen rich water.. and loves DOC Dissolved Organic Carbons add some good carbon 24/7 and larger or more power heads and point one at the are you are now having the most problems with..

And as mentioned all over this string cut your feedings in half. This will help with the DOC's have you ever taken a section of a white Plastic and did a yellow test of the tank ? On the piece of the white plastic like a old bleach bottle take a yellow crayon or yellow highlighter and draw a yellow area and place it in the water at one end of the tank and then look through from the other end and see how well you can see the yellow marked area on the plastic .. Might want to take a peek and see..Just an Idea. The carbon will remove the agents causing the yellow no to be seen and Not familiar with that type of skimmer.

If its a dsb then consider this cyano problem an early warning sign of whats to ome ..Goood luck.

Red slime algae is also know as cyanobacteria, blue-green algae, and a couple of other names that I've forgotten.
It is in the Kingdom Monera, not in the Protista Kingdom like other types of algae, and has characteristics of both plants and bacteria.
See Divisions Of Life Survey or other references.

DSB is just short for Deep sand Bed and the yellow test will just tell you how clean the water is or isn't
With a DSB or Deep Sand when they are running on overload they will start to release stored dissolved Carbon's from under and or with in them and this will cause cyano and other algae problems IMO. So I call the little signs like these a early wanning sign.

This saltwater tank is not very old. I started with a 29gal tank in March 2006, then about July 2006 i put everything from the 29gal tank into a 75gal plus add sand shifting snail, sand shifting shrimp, and sand shifting starfish

    early warning signs of what!?!?

Can second these comments. Definitely sounds like cyanobacteria (blue-green akgae) Had the same problem during the first six months or so of my new tank. Got it under control( never to return to date) by

    1) Running carbon 24/7
    2) Siphoning out what grew
    3) Got a foxface which absolutely loved the stuff. Unfortunately he died a couple months later.

But of all three IMO the carbon was the most beneficial.
