Hydroids, that is! How does one eradicate these?

And if you say Peppermint Shrimp, how does one tell these from the camel shrimp!

Any other options? There are lots of the little baby jellies in my sump so I imagine this will be ongoing ;D

[smiley=laugh3.gif] Very clever BL....made me laugh like hell!

As for your hydroids, I assume you have them in their "tube" form? If that's the case, I've read that applying Joe's Juice directly to them will wipe them out. It seems to take several applications before they go away completely but at least they do go! :)

    LOL That's funny.

Hey BL I know they are very small but is it possible to get a pic of what you are talking about.

There was a thread here a couple months back, not sure which column it was under, about hydroids and larval jellies. I don't remember what they did about eradication, or if the buggers just simply went away. More of a nuisance, if I remember.

    Cheers,
    Ray

A very costly nuisance if you keep sensitive corals. Hydroids can and will sting them to death :(

I will try to get a picture up, they are small :D

Right, I don't want them stinging stuff in my tank ;D

    TMI, TMI (Too Much Information)

Really though, the thread I read talked about how they were a problem for some polyps he had (Don't go there) and what he had to do to get rid of them, or more like the advice that followed.

What amazes me is that I hear about these problems from folks using Store Bought Salt Water and supposedly doing the proper acclamation deal with slow addition of water to the bag, then disposal of ALL bag water. And these critters still get into peoples systems.

I'm buying a UV light and praying everynight.

    Cheers,
    Ray

All you need to do is introduce a piece of rock or a coral frag and, BLAM, you've got yourself some hitchikers. There is no way to avoid it unless you stop adding new critters to your tank :)
