I Just Got My Blue Hippo Tang And Flame Angel Fish

Is there people who has these guys in his tank and wanna share any tip for prepare them convenient and relax home. hippo is very active but my flame angel is so shy, why?

 

i have a blue hippo yeah are awsome, lots of swimming space, and a good place to hide for sleep at night

 

oh also, mine LOVES cleaner shrimp, and i think his favorite things to do ar as followed:
eat,
swim,
and get cleaned,

i would def. suggest one of these, especially if ur tang is like mine, and most, they get ich alot : /

 

I agree with nemo on the shrimp. However I would say get it for the angel (I don't have as much experience with tangs as I do pygmy angels), but I'm sure he'll clean both.

How big is the tank that they are in and how old is it? Hippo tangs are very good for people who want movement in their tank because they are frequent swimmers. I would expect shyness from your angel until he is settled in and establishes his territory. If you want to make him more comfortable though try getting your hands on some live brine shrimp. They tend to coax all fish into a feeding frenzy. The live brine should lure him out, just don't expect them to be a nutritious part of your fish's diet, since they are like candy.

 

actually i have RSM 34g little modified which will be changing in future many times and recently i add an other pump cut %50 black foam because of the micro bubbles may be later on i will remove mechanical filter completely. so far i have cleaner shrimp, fire shrimp,3 mexican turbo,1 astrae snail,emerald crab,3 scarlet red leg hermits, 2 ocellaris clown and blue hippo and flame angel. i also have some small corals torch,daisies and candy cane for now but i will get more.

 

Just be aware of the fact that the tang will outgrow your tank, and you will need to have a plan on what to do with it when that occurs.

 

like what would be the best solution for that? and also mandarin have many fish you should get for that type of set up 34g 5g per fish 6x5=30g is that ok. or i should wait and see may be get corals for now by the way i also got 2 small different xenia. and how can make my water crispy clear do you recommend anything because RSM skimmer is sucks.

 

The only solution for the tang is to give it to someone when it gets bigger. (By this I mean give it to a friend with a bigger tank or trade it into a store for store credit or something like that.)

As for water quality you can get away with just water changes for a 30 gallon (as long as it's not overstocked) Just do a 4-5 gal waterchange every week. Keep an eye on water params.

As for fish, the fish/5 gal rule is actually 1 inch of full grown fish/5 gal. As with most general rules it is a nice guideline for a beginner but once you know what you are doing and can monitor your tank and see if the bioload is to much or not that heavy than you can make adjustments where you see fit. For a 30 I would say about 3 medium fish (about 2-3"). This is just an estimate though so keep an eye on the params, because it also depends on what type of fish you get.

For instance, schooling fish (like chromis, which you can have more of) are not as dirty when it comes to their output as say, a dwarf lion fish or other predator type fish. For your tank I would try a small school of something (like chromis, just as an example) and one or two slightly larger fish (like a flasher wrasse). Keep in mind that the angel will already count as a medium type fish.

Monitor your tank params well since you added a hippo tang and a flame angel.

 

By the way are you using RO water?

 

no my main water was nutrient water since the beginning even for water chance i used 4.4 gallon buckets of nutrient sea water.i buy from my LFS. evaporation water i used distilled tap water i have the unit filtration system but it doesn't make RO water.
