Seems like when one thing is happy another is pissed. Last week everything looked amazing..then two days ago one of my frogspawn heads closed up and today I had to suck all the goop out of the skeleton..while doing so my girlfriend walks in and says "what'd ya kill this time? :)"..there's a good confidence booster..I still have 3 heads left so I broke the dead one off and moved on..then my fiji leather shriveled up to about 1/4 of it's usual size..It is only a few weeks old (to my tank) so I'm hoping it is just molting..I haven't seen any shedding yet though..My flow is also starting to aggravate me..I just got a Koralia 2 and it seems that no matter where i put it something is getting obliterated..I think that is why my fiji is unhappy..i understand they need moderate to high flow and I can't find a spot for the koralia that gives it moderate to high flow without blowing something over..aaannd to top it off I'm going to my parent's house in Illinois for a week so my tank will be at the mercy of my roommate..Maybe a week with my hands out of my tank will do some good..everything is just looking kind of dull..I'll do a nice water change tomorrow before i leave and hope for the best..anyway..not really asking for advice or help..just blowin off some steam!

oh! on a brighter note..my lionfish hasn't shown any signs of ich for 3 weeks today!

yea zoas can be nice especially if you get the super colored ones. im sure every one of use has been at that point where trying to improve the tank just seems to make it worse. hope you have better luck after you get back

yes i have been there. i swear sometimes my tank is out to drive me nutz.

the water flow issue is something that really still drives me nutz. i found to just set it up so it covers the tank nicely. thats about 4100gph flowing in my 60 gal display.for my sps. softies could be less. then place your corals according to flow. IMO don't put corals in then try to alter your flow or you will drive yourself crazy.

also some corals if left alone will grow to better themselves in the flow they are getting. meaning if a corals seem to be closed up for a lil cause its getting blasted it may grow and adjust itself in time.imo

Hang in there dude. Everyone loses tanks and creatures and some point, no matter what their experience or knowledge level is. If they tell you they don't they're liars ;) Just keep your chin up and you will pull through this.

It's not the destination that matters, its the journey and learning along the way that counts..

    Don't give up:)

oh i'm in NO way giving up..i'm only 19..and around 8 months into this obsession..many years to go!! I'm thinking about getting some more rock..taking everything out..and putting it all back in..i've realized that i kind of have "the wall" of rock in my tank..not too many spaces for coral..and adjusting flow over a vertical area is a lot harder than a horizontal..definitely going to use bluephish's advice and setting corals around the existing flow..i've been trying to adjust it around the corals and if i keep it up i'll be bald from pulling my hair out in a month
