You can run a mag 18 too. I run a mag 18 and paid 159 for the pump at the local lfs. The model one doesent require a gatevalve you can adjust the return pvc height to to adjust the water level. The gate valve is better but not required. if money is an issue the valves are about 50 bucks. Either way I love my bullet 2 and the pm series skimmers are excellent! Congrats

gate valve is just a better option IMO , but I guess it depends on what you want your system to be!

Tell him to take a bunch off the price and you will just seal it yourself. Get some Weldon #16 and it will be a tough as concrete. After it runs a while you will never notice it with all the fish poo in there. :)

I totally agree! I would only run a gate valve personally but if money is an issue and you just need to get going it can be done as a temp fix. Sorry just throwing it out there. They claim it works well with the pvc but I would imagine that it would be tough to adjust. if the water level ever changed.

Go with a gate valve. Will give you much more precise water metering.

I will give it a shot with the PVC, im sure I will get fed up with it and get the gate valve.

I did plan On asking for a sale price reduction and seal it up myself some how. Becuase everything else is perfect.

What makes the waste collectors for these so special that would make me pay that much for what looks like a cylinder of acrylic?

It will shut the skimmer down when full. Regular container will not. Shuts off the inlet air. Plenty well worth the money as skimmate stinks on the floor. :)
