    Well im sure this has been asked alot...i just forgot lol...well i have been thinking about adding some more sand...dont really know why just want to get some more fine stuff lol...my question is. Will adding more live sand jeopardize my tank? thanks a bunch guys!

    as long as it is well washed and is in a bag with the corner sniped to nrelease slowly there will be no problems....unless its lime based...but you new that anyway....just forgot - lol

    the realy fine sand will need a good rinse to get rid of the finest silt particles as this will cloud water for a while and go everywhere you dont want it to be.

    i did it so there realy is no reason why you cant do it!

    i was actually thinking of using live sand, thats why i am concerned...i dont want any mini cylcies lol

    i m sure that if you only do it in small batches you will avoid any of that...it would be similar to adding a piece of live rock, or a coral attached to a piece, i am sure someone here must have done it and will chip in with their view!

    I just did something like that at the office. I had 300 lbs of very fine Argo sugar sand (Home Depot Stuff) that I wasn't wild about for the tank. I pulled about 150 out and added it to my sump. I replaced it with 140 of crushed coral. I washed the heck out of it and tried not to make a mess while adding. The tank clouded up for a day. Probably not too much worse than cleaning the sand while doing a water change. No significant problems or deaths.
