I live right near Siesta Beach. Can I use some of this beautiful sand?

    Hi everyone.

I live a few minutes away from Siesta Beach, Fl, which is known for it's beautiful, blinding white quartz sands. (See pic)

My current tank has a DSB of argonite. I'm not happy with the way it looks at all. I'll be upgrading to a new 75g tank within the next month (see my stand build thread here: http://www.3reef.com/forums/i-made/tank-stand-build-103228.html ) and was wondering if I could do a thorough wash of some sand from Siesta, and seed it with a few cups of my current argonite.

I love how absolutely white this sand is, but it's very fine. How much should the size of grain concern me? I will be running a fuge with a DSB in it (a good amount of my argonite from my current set-up).

Thanks in advance for your advice.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Not worth risking the investment you have in your system IMO. Might very well be fine, but not worth it.

You can buy the bag sand that is not live. I think its like 5 dollars for a 5 lb bag. But that is at the LFS in my neighborhood.
