I may have a solution to clowns who won't host an anenome?

My tank raised clown has now started hosting a spot in the sand instead of the magfloat :( This is silly. He has a little "dugout" where he's been sleeping....

I got my clowns to host my frogspawn using the picture method. They were both always by my power head all day and all night and it just annoyed me. After learning after a couple of months that they will host a frogspawn (which was in the tank about a month before I got my clowns), I posted several pictures around my tank of clowns hosting frogs. Within a few days, they both started chillin by my frogspawn instead of the powerhead. Now they both sleep nice and tight to it and stay near/in it all day.

As far as instinct goes, yes they have the instinct but still learn from the parents. Lion cubs have the instinctual desire to hunt, but they must learn how from the parents. So I think both play a big role. Just my two cents.

First thing it is a BAD idea to mix clowns unless you have a huge dt.
I have a 72g and have an Ocalaris, well i went and got a false perc and he didnt last a week. Ocalaris tore him to shreds. Another thing thats kinda cool, and safer than adding an anenome to your tank. Try a hairy mushroom. mine loves it.

I agree with scubba steve. My tank raised hosts an XL watermelon mushroom. He rubs himself on it all day and sleeps underneath it once the lights go out. Mushrooms are much nicer to my other corals than an anemone :)
