I work with a guy that does glass/acrylic work on the side and thats what they do after forming. You just have to make sure that you are using a thick enough acrylic that you don't compromise the strength by sanding and polishing.

Tanked was the first thing that popped into my mind as well. Don't know why, but I can't help watching it.

they make some interesting project tanks and its pretty cool minus the overstocking and not allowing time to cycle. my favorite one so far was the recovery bed for the 5 year old heart operation patient

Is there any large industrial supply shops near you? I am a pipefitter and it is quite common to use 24" black steel pipe in large factories and boiler rooms, they might have an end cut you can use. It's 24" o.d.. I know the pipefitter local in New York is UA local 1. You could try looking them up online and giving them a shout, they could probably tell you where you could find a piece.

    Hope that helped,
    Jake

Cast pipe would be pretty rough on the outside, usually, but some isn't bad. Could be worth looking at.I was thinking with black pipe (reg steel pipe or carbon steel are other names for it) you could polish the pipe to minimize blemishes in the acrylic after molding. But I can tell you now you don't wanna have to pay for it, not cheap. But like I said you may be able to find a cut end that will just be sent out for scrap. If you were closer I'd gladly grab you a chunk. Hopefully Brunoboarder can help you out!
