Yes, it's the blue reef chromis that is the spendy one. I'd like a group, but from what I have heard chromis will pick each other off. Sad to see a $4 fish die, but sadder in the wallet to see a $20 fish die.

I'd say blue/green Chromis. I've had three for a couple years now. Survived three different tank transfers and various new fish added. Although I originally started with five of them. I also had four Blue Reef chromis, but I believe they were diseased when I bought them and they all died within a month. I also had a yellow tail Damsel that lived forever then one day just disappeared, it was never aggressive and was one of my original fish from when I git in the hobby. His name was Kobe (yellow tail & bluish purple like the Lakers uniform!).

There are fresh and saltwater bettas, but while they both might be easy, the marine variety is far from cheap (LA's price range is $74.99 - $199.99). It's also a fairly large predator that preys on most anything that moves (fish, crabs, shrimp, etc.).

I've had a marine Betta before, just figured he was referring to the Fw kind for the red color. Definitely a serious predator so no go in your tank pdixle.
