ok guys i have been looking at your cleanup crews for a while now and have noticed that mine looks like a piece of crap. ok i have:

    1 brittle starfish

    1 emerald crab

    7 snails

    and 5 hermit crabs.

i think this is very bad for my tank personally. how bout you. i did the clean up crew question thing on reef cleaners and am waiting for a reply.

i have a small space for a refugium in the back of my filter. its a 2 in by 6 in space that is 6.5 inches deep.

    thanks guys in advance!!

Personally, I love our banded trochus snails and our chitons. Both have even successfully bred, adding tons of freebies to our CUC. We have some turbo snails and hermit crabs, but 90% of the algae cleanup comes from the banded trochus snails and our 2 adult chitons, with an entire fleet of babies from both species that come out at night.

+1! I just ordered the custom CUC that John reccommended and they have a great sale going on right now.

EDIT: Just saw that you have already sent a request for reefcleaners. You can't go wrong with that. It will seem like a lot, but they have an awesome reputation - they know what they are talking about

Nassarius snails seem to do a good job in the sand, they also sometimes emerge at feeding time to help with any uneaten food which is fun to watch. Also keeps them from starving like a sand sifting star might.
