Thats weird, I have only heard great things about that skimmer. I know this is a dumb question, but did you follow the instructions? You know that most skimmers have a break in period..........right?

Probably, but I have never tried it. They do make a overflow box for the remora that supposedly makes them almost zilch.

right now, nothing because my c.c. is too high to buy anythin. but it would probablly be easier for me to afford a skimmer around $300, or if i just save up a bit longer i can get it down to almost nothing and be able to afford the $500 skimmer that steve mentioned. I'm also getting two new fish soon, so i may try my best to tweak the skimmer around so it at least runs decent for the new fish until i can get a new skimmer

yup did exactly what the instructions said, i've had issues with this skimmer since day one. I thought it was going to be a great skimmer with all the great reviews. And this skimmer is way past the break in period,

Ok, ill do a bit more research on the Remora, don't know to much about them

Maybe you got a lemon, can you return or exchange it?

looking at their instructions down at the very bottom of the page it shows that there is a warranty http://www.coralvue.com/pdfs/BH-800s.pdf

i just dont know if it would be worth returning this one and sending me another, or just return it and ask for a refund, if they do them

They are supposed to be great skimmers (and I just bought one - oh my!!!), so maybe you should contact them and see what they say. If they send you a new one, definitely try that one out. Maybe what's wrong is just something simple (but isn't obvious to us) that tech could help you out with.

    Worth a shot contacting them.
