so i just emailed coralvu and asked if i can swap my skimmer with another ocotopus. I really do want to give this skimmer another chance, if i do have a deffective skimmer, I will forgive the brand :D and I will be happy. And if I am able to return it and get a new octo, and i'm still struggling i will get another skimmer of a different brand

i have an aqua c and i love it. I have talked with aqua c remora pro owners that turn it off from time because it skims too much coral food too fast. Maybe thats a problem you would like.
If you can not return your octopus could you sell it to me, I would like to work on it maybe and give it to my friend that just got into salt tanks

that could deffiently be a possiblity because i really dont want to toss it in the trash if i cant return it, waist of money. But im really hoping they will swap, because i dont have the money for a new skimmer right now

    I have this HOB one

    octopusBH-100F

    I hate it.

Everytime you turn it on it overflows on the floor. I finally had to drill a hole for it to drain into itself - this works, but I really shouldn't of had to do that.

It produces an insane amount of bubbles. I've had it for a year now and it drives me nuts.

I am trying a new idea right now about the bubbles... I went searching for a sock and found something different. You posted on my relevant thread earlier today - I'll update it tomorrow w/pics and you can see what I'm talking about.

If this fixes that and my new hole fixes the other problem, I'll probably be less annoyed with it... but still...

Anyway, I have contacted Octopus customer service about some of the weirdness of this skimmer (like how it sends the bubbles to the wrong chamber) and they were very friendly and all that. They sent me a new pump free (didn't even charge for shipping).

So the company is cool and I would recommend trying to work with them as they seem willing.

It could just be the pump. I really think the only things that matter with skimmers is what makes the bubbles and water go through it, the size of the skimmer to increase contact time, and the ability to adjust flow, and water level for the removal of junk

yes, also the one I mentioned has no way to control flow or water level. it's either on or off.
