I've decided to replace my old school wet dry bio filtration unit after cooking my fish with a new filtration unit. What would you guys go with for a 90g reef tank?

    other thoughts:

I don't think I have enough water flow with the current system.
I'm thinking of adding a dual overflow to the new system and maybe an even more powerful pump than the 2200gph unit I have installed now.

    Problems I foresee:

Flooding my brand new house upon installation of said new pump and sump with dual overflow

I normally go for water flow with power heads in my display tank and run a medium flow pump through and out of my sump.
what ever you get I wish I had set my sump up with more bulk heads for external plumbing and a decent area for a sock for the return/with a good area for an in sump skimmer and a 5 gallon refugium area then to exit to the return pump.

said that I wish I had an area for in sump skimmer I still would use a external skimmer . I just like extra space in my sump.
Try making one out of a 30 gallon long or 25 gallon glass. You can cut and silicon glass from homedepot easy.

that looks insane, I think it has a ton of possibilities, you have a sock/refugium area if you want and a skimmer area and return. Plus it looks really nice and that always scores points too.

I would trade mine for that. I have the eshops eco, my nitrates are around zero, but that one is insane

It's just a sump. A skimmer section and a return section. No refugium. Sumps are very easy to make and all they do is hold water. Acrylic sumps are expensive and don't do much that a cheap 30g tank off CL can do. But some folks like plug and play. Once they are all gunked up with fish poo they all look the same.

Personally I would put in a sump/fuge. Put as big of a tank you can fit under your stand. On a 90g there is no need for more that 600gph. All you need is enough flow to feed the skimmer and fuge, you dont need 2000gph through your sump. Flow in the tank is done by power heads or closed loops.
