Alright. The time has come and I need to purchase a skimmer. I have a 75 gallon tank with an aqueon acrylic sump. The skimmer will be going into the center chamber. The chamber to the left contains my return pump and the right chamber has the socks so I will not have a fuge. Any suggestions? The LFS recomended the vertex in 80. Also i would prefer to purchase online because the lfs is big $$$$$. Any site suggestions :)

Ive always liked AquaC products myself...don't buy a "Cheap" skimmer...you will regret it, just fork the money up front, it will pay off in the end.

I have an Eshopps PSK-150 works great and is rock solid. I figured out what skimmer I wanted then did an internet search to find the best price.

I had a tough time with my PSK 150 and switched to a SWC and only noticed a marginal improvement. Skimmers are worth the money they ask.

the vertexs look good but I do recommend you do double the recommended tank size on skimmers.

some one told me cone skimmers are good.

    Vertex

Well, Thanks for all the advice. Since I had very limited space I went with the Vertex IN-80. It fits in my sump and just barely. It has been running for about 2 hours and has approx 1/4" of skimmate in the cup. I am in the process of building a fish room in my basement directly below the tank so I will gain all the room I need for equipment. I figured i can always use this in a quarintine tank or something when I upgrade it which will be just after christmas.

Question on Vertex IN-80. On the adjustment tube there is an open position and a closed position. I hear alot about wet and dry skimming. Where should i have this set to for optimal skimming?
