I have no real experience with clowns, but I have read on here a few times that when they are young they are un-sexed, and when they grow older the bigger one becomes the dominant female. Again that's jut what I have read on here so don't hold me to it :)

WOW. I got my mated pair of ocellaris tank raised clowns for less than that Matty. Ocellaris are cheap. I wouldn't pay more than $20 for a single one in all honesty

ya i dont think 24.99 is to much for an awesome little clown fish, plus i always hear how they live pretty long lives. so 25 buck for years of enjoyment seems well worth it

yep, being in Wi with this kind of hobby kind of sux. It's weird though, things that should be cheap, clown gobies for example, are extremely expensive, 30+ dollars depending on where you go, and things that should be expensive, take clams for example, which should be 100+ dollars for the big guys, go for like 40 bucks here... It makes no sence, it's like these places want to make this hobby as confusing as possible so no one can enjoy it!

See it was the opposite here. Really good livestock prices, with insane equipment/dry good prices.
But anyways, $25 isn't too terrible of a price. Go with 2. You can have more in larger tanks, but with a 55 there might be aggression problems if you try a third. At the small size you state they are, it probably wouldn't be too important on size. No where near sexual maturity anyways, let them develope and pair out on there own. But still wouldn't hurt to try and get the bigger/smaller combo. Or look into special ordering and spend a little extra to get an already established pair.

Heck if they are that young you should try and get a pair of Occe's and a pair of the black ones, for those prices you can't go wrong!
