i have a Current Sundial Pendant ( SunDial HQI Pendant | Current What's Next ), great light, except that the blues are power compact. i would like to switch out the PCs for T5s. is this possible? i assume it's not as easy as splicing on a new end, would i have to tear into it and get new ballasts?

for some info, it is an all in one system -- one cord -- does this mean that the same ballast runs the HQI and the PCs? i haven't cracked it open yet, i'm still in the planning stages

You would have to investigate if the ballast for the PC can also power up T5s. If I had to guess, I think you might need another ballast.

Modding this light to accomodate T5's instead of the PCs might be a bit daunting. First, you'd have to get a new ballast. The T5 and PC ballasts are not identical in size, so if this is a tight unit; a T5 ballast might not fit inside. Additionally, swapping bulbs means swapping mounting ends, and the ease or difficulty with which this is accomplished is dependent again on the interior of the unit.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but you might have a time and a half with this one!

I would imagine that there are separate ballasts for the MH and PC and that the power cord splits inside the unit.

If the fixture in your link is correct the dimensions state that it is 15" long. Not sure of any T5 lamps that short ...

    22, 34, 46, 60 are the 4 lengths for T5's. Great foresight, wiisgelec!!

Since the OPs fixture is 15" in length, I suppose that unfortunately takes care of that. :(

yep, bummer. i just don't like the combo of PCs and a MH in one enclosed fixture. it's handy, don't get me wrong. but i'm more than certain that the heat is killing the life of the PCs. i'll just have to suck it up. right now, i'm just using the blues as my dawn/dusk and turn them off when the MH kicks on.
