They grow to almost 4 feet. Sharks typically need round tanks to swim to avoid banging around the corners. I hope you have fine sand and not crushed coral in the tank, otherwise he may scratch himself severely.

Well, whether you're looking for him to or not, he will. As long as you feed him properly and healthily, he's going to grow. Good luck with him though. I hope he survives.

rehome him asap, a shark has no business being in a 55G, even a baby. IMO its cruel. sorry to be blunt, but this is a BAD idea.

The problem as I see is that cat sharks are very active. They almost constantly on the move, as stated that is not enough room for one long term.

It will very soon start swimming into over flows and possible power heads.

A curiosity purchase for sure, but I have had them in a 200 gallon tank and the constant swimming drove me nuts quickly, why because they need very large tanks to curse in.

honestly bro, you put a shark in a 55g, and you don't know what to feed it? It's gonna take a well seasoned, very experienced pro, with a MAJOR filtration system to keep this thing alive.

What sized sump? skimmer? how much live rock? etc etc.

Small chopped pieces of fresh raw fish, scallops, squid. Tiny pieces and watch for uneaten pieces that will decay can compromise your water quality.
