Alright so I'm adding one more fish into my 75 gallon and I decided I want it to be a mandarin. I know mandarins need a lot of pods and I don't have many. Good news is I have a refugium with chaeto and ulva so I have a perfect place for them to multiply in. Question is do I just need to add a bottle of pods to the refugium and let them multiply or is there more to it? Also, how long will I need to wait untill I can get the Mandarin. Thanks in advance.

Yep toss em in there. I wouldnt do the whole bottle at once. Could cause spikes from die off. Dont clean algae in your fuge if you do now. I would wait until your fuge is crawling with them to be sure you have an established colony in there and you should be seeing loads of em on your DT glass.

buying a bottle of pods is definitely going to help,.. but i would suggest not getting the mandarin for at least at the very very least another 8 months or so.. let me establish themselves in your dt and your refugium first.. mandarins eat 24/7...

Here's a great idea i did on my tank... Go to your lfs... Look in the fliter media section and find sponge filters for Fluva canister fliter's they come in white and blue, and are realy pourse. Buy some of it cut to your size to use in your DT and hide the chunk of sponge behinde your rock work... it will be a appartment for pods to grow... and keep your gobie well fed....

Keep in mind just my rusty 2 cents....

    Good Luck....
