    well, your tank if fairly shallow, so you should be able to put anything under a good t5 set up. MHs are great, but you might have to invest in a chiller come summer time. so, its really either one. if it was my tank, i would go t5.

    I've had two Odyssea systems. My old one was total crap. My new one .. I've noticed quality has improved quite a bit. I don't like the actincs though. It will cost me about $130 to replace those bulbs. Nothing wrong with the ones it came with I just miss my dual 420/460 spectrum bulbs. Things really glowed with those bulbs. Hard to tell how much power I'm using compared to a higher quality system with better ballast.

    T5s all the way brother. As mentioned before, the MH, while being an excellent lighting choice, can really heat things up. And with your 40, you will be able to keep anything with a good T5 array and high quality bulbs. Happy Birthday to you!!!!!!............;D

    well i BOUGHT IT! i got the Tek 36" T5HO 4x39watt , with
    2x 39W Super Actinic T5 HO Fluorescent
    2x 39W 12000K Actinic White (50/50) T5 HO Fluorescent

    wow $340 total, thanks to pharmrjohn, i hope this is a good light fixture to grow my reef tank.
