I need opinions?

I have a 120 gallon tank deep. My lighting is
2 T12 vho ACTINIC WHITE
2 T12 vho super actinic

I have been researching my ballast because I want to upgrade from what I have found is that I can change my ice caps and could possibly upgrade to t5.
have you ever heard of somebody doing that?

Also on the back of my ballast it says i can used 4 bulbs on one ballast. I have 2 ballast does that mean I could have 8 bulbs?

Last question More bulbs you use on one ballast do you lose energy . Basically is 2 bulbs better than 4 bulbs on one ballast or does not matter

What lamp do you have now? I think the t5's t12's, t'8's, etc. all use the same connector pins so I don't see why you would have a problem with new t5's.

I would assume your question about the ballasts is correct. I am not sure on energy usage.

No, yes, no, does not matter as long as you do not exceed the maximum the ballast can operate.

 

Wouldnt going from VHO to t5 HO be a downgrade?

 

I think If I understand the lighting right it would be more of a parrallel move. The problem that I am having is finding t12 bulb is hard I would have to order them online and don't like ordering online. T5' I would have more bulb option but after thinking more and talking to you guys I beleive I will switch my bulbs to t8 for now. I can buy t8 locally and all I need for the t8 to fit my t12 endcaps is that rubber piece

I will be able to buy my bulbs at the store and for now it will be good.
I will be saving to get Led eventually.

Not at all. A T12VHO bulb puts out a fraction of the amount of light as a T5HO bulb for the wattage used. Not to mention the low availability of T12s and smaller variety for aquarium use.

 

I thought t12 are 110 watt and t5 are 54watt?
