I found a 48" Wave Point T-5 HO 4 bulb fixture at a LFS and the owner offered it to us for $200. The original price is $290 something. (Can't remember the exact number but I know it was just shy of $300).
    My questions are:
DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT WAVE POINT FIXTURES? Are they good/bad/decent?
Is this a good deal for this product? Alone it seems like a great deal, but if its a bad product it could be a mistake to get it.
    Thanks as always guys.

This is a brand new one in a box with new bulbs. It was on a shelf in a LFS. (I meant the owner of the LFS, not the owner of the fixture.)
That's the same fixture as in the link. (48" one).
Do you know anything about the fixture (ie good brand or not?)

No not personally. Never owned one of those. Says individual reflectors...that helps. If I read correctly Id say one cord plugs it in. Might not be able to control actinics on a separate timer. No lunars if thats important to you. New in the box for $200 is about as cheap as you can get. Probably a good light to get started with just missing a couple nice features.

Thats a good point. Do you think you could re-wire it to have two cords?
Does anyone know of a decent 48" 4bulb t5 fixture with seperate switchesI could get for about $200-250? I dont care about moonlights, I can hook up a lamp later if I want.

Not of any quality. To make the Wavepoint have two cords you will most likely need to purchase an electronic T5 ballast.

    Why do you say that?

I have this fixture. When I first got it I had some trouble with one of the ballasts heating up and cutting out. It was enclosed in a canopy though. With the doors open so it gets a little ventilation it works fine. I plan to install exhaust fans in the canopy, so I can close the doors again.

The entire fixture is sealed up tight from moisture, and utilizes the aluminum body as a heat sink.

I can't compare it to other T5 fixtures since this is my first one but it blows the doors off my old PC retrofit. At 1/2 the watts I am keeping corals I killed with PCs.

You could probably modify the fixture easily to have two plugs. It has two plugs. I thought about doing it but decided not to void my warranty.

You need to have two ballasts to do two cords. If the unit has one ballast you will need to get another.
