i'm not sure how much calcium is in the salt..but i'm sure it's less than 600! so doing a few water changes should lower it..or just quit dosing for a while

It really depends on which brand of salt you use. With Crystal Sea and Instand Ocean, it only has 340-350. With Oceanic, it has 580. So, water change wouldn't help with Oceanic. With enough Coral, the calcium would go down quite a bit in just 1 week. I wouldn't worry about it.

I would just stop dosing for a bit. I dont have much coral and mine drops 20 per day.

I am doubting the reading, not doubting you, but perhaps a faulty test (expired). What is your Mag reading? For your tank to be "holding" 600 ppm Calc your Mag would be 1650-1850 ppm range and I doubt it is.

My IO salt measures Ca at 480... I'm sure it varies batch to batch though.

I would cross check the reading at the LFS and if it proves out, I would just wait. Your coral will consume it in time (you have coral, I assume)
