Thanks, I'll have to get the clear mesh from BRS. I'm using some black stuff from home depot and I know that's where my problem is. lol

I think it would hurt the fish to hit the mesh, but it would hurt a lot less than suffocation.

Edit: Also, I would imagine that the fish could see the mesh and the sight of it would deter them from jumping. Just a guess.

Day after I moved my live stock to my new Rimless shallow tank my in laws came over and were looking at it and asked why there was no cover on it and if the fish would jump out. I said no they shouldn't jump (I only have two clowns and two chromis). Well I went back to my room to work on my school work when I hear screaming and I coulda sworn I hear some about water on the floor so I ran out and my female clown was on the floor flopping around lol. She jumped out and almost hit my mother in law and scared the crap out of her. She hadn't jumped out since though and that was a month or so ago.

Your clown clearly had a disliking for females especially Inlaws!

Reminds me of the time I was cleaning my nano reef one morning. I had a clear plastic food container next to me because I took a piece of live rock out of the tank that had GHA on it. It sat there all day. When we got home late that night, we found our female clownfish jumped out and landed in the small container. If I didn't clean the tank that day, she would've been dead.

A few months later we were in out living room talking with friends and family when she jumped out again and fell behind the tank. I got her back and put her in the tank.

It's great to hear these jumping stories that turned out well. It's a total drag when you find a fish dried up on the floor, and it seems like we hear about those cases much more often.

Its true for every good story there's much more bad I am sure. Iknow I have had a cleaner wrase jump and orange stripe gobie jump and die. I think those are the only ones.
