    I sit here staring at my empty tank. Its in the middle of the end cycle diatom bloom. Everything is brown, then suddenly a molt from an amphipod floats by reminding me that its actually not empty at all. This made me realize why I enjoy saltwater aquariums so much,they are their own little ecosystems. Sorry, extremely random but I just wanted to say it...

    Dont worry man, It'll look good one day. And people will be saying stuff you did to their first new tank.

    I'm with ya, Nightster. This is my boyfriend's first saltwater tank, so I made sure to point out little things like that so he'd quit being so impatient. We spent many an evening watching the "pod party" in the sump LOL.

    I never like the cycle period. It's the boring part between the two fun parts: building the setup, and watching it grow. Nevertheless, it's a very important part of the hobby. But like you noticed, good things do come out of it. ;)

    need help

    i just started my system bout a 25 gallon hex live sand and live rock and a kit to make salt water i was told by my local pet shop to put the salt in water wait a hour or two and the sand and then the rocks... the water is very cloud because of the live sand was wonder how long is it gonna be like that and is that normal....also i have 2 hanging filter that i am using was wondering is that good enough and what esle do u guys think i need i am absolutly new at this and neeed guidance....thanks
