Low flow and minimal lighting is fine. Of the two, I highly suggest minimal flow. I've successfully maintained ricordea within mid-level lighting.

what is happening to your shrooms? are they just shrinking down to nothing? I don't really know what to say other than try putting them wayyyy under something, so it almost gets no light.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I have more problems with mushrooms than any other coral in my tank. For me the issue is the lighting and the depth of the tank, just too intense. Even if they are moved to under an over hang. Yes they survive but do not thrive, which is most unfortunate because I love mushroom gardens. Also I think running a tank with 0 nitrates........ just does not encourage their growth.

    Good Luck.

i have several different colonies of Actinodiscus sp. , Rhodactis sp. , and they tend to do well no matter where i put them. i have even started placing singles that are not attached in low flow low light areas and they are keeping okay. i have them placed bottom to midrange. i am using a 4x54w t5 setup.
my green hairy mushroom (Rhodactus Indosinensis) prefer lower flow. and i am keeping them on bottom.
you had mentioned your tank being too clean. all of my parameters are undetectable and phosphates are slightly detectable.

i hope this has been of some help

I have 2 x 250watt halides on a 75 gallon. 2 months ago I switched to 20k bulbs from 14ks and my slow growing shrooms have almost doubled in size. They have grown more in the last 2 months than they did in the last 2 years.

Mine seem to grow better in low light and low flow. Sand bed...Under frogspawn and Anthelia..and in a cave...The ones I have higher in my tank dont seem to grow as much and none of the higher ones have split. GL
