I'm sorry to hear you lost your stuff and happy to hear everyone fared well otherwise. At least that's something.

However, your remark about the generator being out of the question and too expensive. How expensive was it to not have it? I know it sucks to have to fork over big jingle for something you hope you never have to use, but it would've paid for itself after just this one use! Now you have to restock your tank. That's just part of it. But after three days I am sure you lost everything in your fridge and freezer. A generator could have prevented that as well.

In the scheme of what we spend on our systems a generator is a drop in the bucket. A couple coral packs. Some cleaning crews. A skimmer. Whatever. That's all it will cost you but what it can save you is exponentially greater. Plus you don't have to use it just for the tank.
